"My thanks." He moves carefully across the room to the barkeep to settle his two-pint tab. Once there, he proffers the required money, then pauses, musing.
"I have learned that one of your regular patrons may have paid during a recent visit with some unusual coin. Might we make an exchange, piece for piece? I'm something of a collector, you see, and would be happy to inform you if you have something of real value on your hands."
The stocky, balding bartender barely pauses in his wiping to scoop your coins off the counter and into a pocket of his apron. "Unusual coin? We get folks coming from all over, got all kinda currency coming through, but as long as the weight is good, it spends the same."

"Oh, yeah... I made him scrub those things off first. Gimme a sec." he roots around and pulls out gold coin. Its a bit misshapen and there's still grim in it in places.

Offering to trade, one coin for one coin, Horatio, if successful, will retire to study the coin, looking for traces of writing or any information derivable from the grime left after the rough polish.
Responding to Fayn’s theatrics the elf says, “I am Helena Liadon. According to what people are saying, the bandits are along the Old Road, so starting there is probably the best bet.”
Noticing Tam’s discomfort, she steps between him and the others. ”Tam, do you accept these people to come with us? I have no preference either way.”
Tam is surprised to be asked but nods and mumbles,
"Uhhh. Yes, they are fine."
He glances quickly between the tall elves and half-elves and adds,
"Maybe we should talk to the the mayor before we leave town? They might have details to help us save the kidnapped deputy." He clears his throat uncomfortably, "And it would be good to know if there is any reward if we can't save the deputy but stop the bandits."
Nodding in agreement with Tam, she stands up to her full height. Helena glances at where the tiefling had played before shrugging it off and looking at the group of bandit hunters. “Very well. It appears we have enough for the hunt. Tam here has recommended that we see the mayor first to confirm our payment and then head off to the Old Road. If any of you need to buy anything for the hunt, I suggest now would be a good time to do so. If you have everything, come with us to see the mayor.”
If no one objects, she nods in confirmation and heads to the mayor’s office.
Fayn collects his things and reluctantly follows the new party to find the mayor, drinking water when possible along the way. His eyes study the various members of this makeshift rescue team.
Still a bit sour for the fact that she was rejected by most of the group who decided to go for a bandit hunt, Trinjya makes her way to the bar orders a strong drink and keeps her eyes and ears open for more interesting rumors that promis easy coin. She is interested in the conversiation between the Horatio and the bartender. She leans over and takes a close look at the coin.
"Looks like any other coin to me. The interesting thing ist that theres supposed to be more of them somewhere. If you want to go looking for the treasure and need a hand. I'd be willing to lend you mine. I'm bored and I love treasure." She winks at him and takes a sip of her drink.
"Aye whenever you are all ready, I am. I think what we have here is good, though I wouldn't mind one or two more if they were to be ready just as soon."
He finishes his ale, and waits for the confirmation. It was indeed time to end this plague.
"I'm ready to go when you'll are!" The bard answered. He checked again his would-be companions: The dwarf seemed trustworthy enough, the human seemed nice and the aarakocra had picked his curiosity. Picking up his drink he gave a quick glance to his hand, to check that he was still wearing a certain ring on hisfinger and that it had not been stolen from him during the chat.
It was an odd thing to obsessively worry about, but Cnicus really did not want anyone possibly reading nor controlling his mind, and as such, the ring was a constant source of comfort to him.
He stood up, glancing to the other three before taking a look to the people around them, to see if anyone was willing to join. "We'll find the cure and end this horrible plague. Let's get going!"

Megoddosh feels the time for the sick slipping away slowly. "My friends, we must hurry if we wish to save the sick."
Raising his voice, he says to those who will listen, "Are there any who will join us to save those who are dying?"

Caine gathers the few belongings he has with him and falls in with the others seeking out the mayor.
"Broadcasting our goals may be unwise," he says to the others. "Even the unseen have ears."
He walks next to the nervous halfling, Tam. "Take heart small one. Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far they can go."
Baymen chimes in to Megoddosh's concerns,
