Mal will pull a long, thin metal tool from somewhere around his waist, and drop to a knee as he starts working on the lock. "I don't think it's trapped. The door, at least. This is a pretty decent lock, though."

Sleight of Hand to unlock the door: 19
The door swings inward as it is unlocked.
The walls of this room are finished in black marble. The marble retains a mirror-smooth sheen etched by a pattern of lines and angles, and the light of torches or lamps catches in strange ways on the incisions. The center of the room has a raised dais with the remains of a woven straw mat.
As Uce looks around they find their eyes following the lines and angles on the walls and for the briefest instant it seems like the room stretches out away from them and they momentarily lose their footing, but do not fall.
The longer the group look into the room the more frequent the strange spatial distortions become and Mal and Khutulun also experience the strange 'stretching' sensation that Uce did...
Krikoris leans in and tries to make sense of what he's seeing.
Arcana: 13
Krikoris tries to puzzle out the meanings of the strange angles and the effect it is having on the others....he is reminded of the symbols of the A’shiwi people of his homeland who live in the territory of the flint-scaled wyrm, Knife-Wing. He recalls their elders meditating upon the angular symbols to open their minds to new possibilities.....though darker rumours said that sometimes strange horrors crept into the world through the same angles if the meditation was interrupted.
Krikoris shakes his head and turns his eyes to the floor, "We shouldn't linger here. If your mind wanders in this place, it might not be you that comes back."
Mal makes a sign to ward off evil. "Should we do something to disrupt that pattern then, po? I don't like open doors that I don't know where they lead."
"I suggest we move on. The occult is something not to be taken lightly ans we don't know if disturbing the pattern may bring more trouble than good. Sometimes symbols are used to contain things."

Mal nods, and turns away from the room, no small amount of relief on his shoulders. "Where to now? I heard faint voices, it would probably be wise to avoid them."
Having exhausted this area the companions head back to the temple room and head north.
The short corridor ends in a T-junction, torches flicker in sconces here illuminating a corridor running east-west that ends at somewhat perished looking doors. There is also a door set in the north wall of the corridor a few metres to the left of the junction.

Krikoris steps in curiously examining the straw mat, "Strange bedroom. But not the strangest, I suppose."
Uce just nods. "Kind of reminds of home."
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Krikoris examination of the impressions on the straw mat seems to indicate that someone kneeled or sat here for long periods rather than lay upon it.
As Uce looks around they find their eyes following the lines and angles on the walls and for the briefest instant it seems like the room stretches out away from them and they momentarily lose their footing, but do not fall.
"That was close," Uce mutters as he looks to everyone.

Mal is still standing by the door. "I'm fine here, thank you, po."
He'll keep an ear out for people coming down the halls - Perception: 12
Mal can hear very, very faint sounds of voices but whether they are from elsewhere in the complex or filtering down from outside he is unsure.
The longer the group look into the room the more frequent the strange spatial distortions become and Mal and Khutulun also experience the strange 'stretching' sensation that Uce did...

Khutulun will look over the northern door, making sure it is not trapped.
