Mal pats his trusty shortsword and says "Don't worry about me, po. I haven't survived this long in the streets just based on my looks. You got a mouth like mine, you have to be able to back it up."
"Well, if it's pay you're after, then we should go see that rich woman whose relation we found jawless in the wall at the construction site, yes?" Seeing Uce and Krikoris don't know about that, Mal brings them up to speed. "The leader of the Garunam people in this village, Raj Senem, was murdered recently, and his daughter is now the de facto leader. Her name is Adik Kiwa, and she just arrived in town. She'll probably pay to figure out who did this to her father."
Clancy and Samnang followed along, though Clancy seemed pensive and troubled by something....Samnang was the opposite, smiling absently to herself and staring off into space with bright eyes.
Mal notes the three fishermen who left, then cheerfully leads the way up to Adik Kiwa's residence. Along the way, he chatters happily, pointing out local sights and waving to people he knows.
" So far we don't know much other than there is a lot of hate between the two groups, most people don't care when there are other things to worry about but when we arrived we stoped a child being hung just for being a pickpocket"
To the east of the docks a stone wall twice as tall as a man blocks off the Garunam quarter from the rest of Parakan a single gate providing the only entrance or exit. A half-dozen Lokanan people dressed in red sarong and white vests and carrying rattan shields and blakas.
As your group approaches a young woman steps forward, " What is your business here?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Pardon me, we're on the business of Bapak Isow. I am to escort these travelers and assist them in identifying the culprit of a horrible crime. Please, let us pass, it is most urgent business."

" Ah....the foreigners....yes, we've been informed."
As the group were let through the gate Jupp looked around for those he had voyaged here with Clancy was gone having seemingly vanished to deal with whatever was troubling him. But as he looked down he saw the small shaggy form, " Um....Big Guy....I'm gonna head off...you've got some much tougher folks here now and I think me and Ni Made really hit it off well...so I'm gonna concentrate on that instead. Look after yourself."
The remainder of the group was ushered through the gate into the Garunam Quarter.
Inside the cramped confines of the quarter, the Garunam have built rambling houses of heavy timbers. Narrow streets twist between the buildings, and boards laid down atop the flat roofs allow passage high above the street. Most of the buildings are two storeys in height with the lower storey being mostly open area with slats to let air flow , with whole families packed into a single room due to enough “disturbances” having taken place in the quarter to make the Garunam reluctant to sleep on the ground floors. The older buildings are squat squared stone affairs, being inherited from the ancient days of Empire.
There are few businesses to be seen, the only shops to be found are those dedicated to matters of interest to the Garunam alone, like the god-shops where their idols are carved or the small establishments that sell materials necessary for funerals and weddings.
There are a number of walled compounds within and it is to one of these that Mal leads you.
A rather obese but well muscled Garunam man stands at the gate of the compound and nods when he sees Mal and the Denawa Jupp.
" The Mistress has said to allow you and your companions entry.", he said as he pushed open the gate.
As the companions entered the House Gate they saw the paon ( kitchen) to the right and the courtyard and bale gede ( work area) ahead of them.
To their left they saw bale daub pavilion, standing on the steps to great them they saw a well dressed young Garunam woman with tear-reddened eyes and beside her a strong looking female Orang Bunian covered in tattoos.
Dressed in ornate orange robes with red and white trim and her red hair braided using white cloth, the Orang Bunian looks the new comers over, spear in hand. Her eyes narrow at the group as her cloth bound hands run themselves over the spears shaft, her position shifting as she widens her stance. Over her exposed arm and neck can been seen intricate geometric patterns tattooed over her skin.
"Mistress, the visitors" she says with clear disdain "have arrived."

Normally at ease, Mal looks a little uncomfortable in this setting. Shifting a little from foot to foot, he says "Good day, Nyonya Kiwa. I apologize for the delay. I present esteemed travelers from far-off lands, bangsawans Jupp, Uce, and Krikoris, at your service. Please accept our condolences."
Krikoris gives a hesitant chuckle, "Speaking only for myself, almost nothing. Its my first time to this area and I just met these two by chance and heard they had a job and offered to help out."
Mal pats his trusty shortsword and says "Don't worry about me, po. I haven't survived this long in the streets just based on my looks. You got a mouth like mine, you have to be able to back it up."
Krikoris moves to join them, "This job does pay, doesn't it? Or are you just hoping for a reward or something?"
"That... is actually a good question"

Three of the fishermen that have been watching the group leave the drinking house and head toward the docks.

Krikoris nods, "That sounds doubly good. Get paid and get in with local leadership."
Uce finishes his favorite drink and turns to the rest of the group. "Apologies," he says in a casual voice. "I heard there's a job, ya? I'm in."

Uce gives a polite bow.

Krikoris nods when he is introduced, but is rubbernecking like a tourist, curious about this new land and strange people.
Kiwa stepped forward squeezing Khutuluns arm in reassurance, " Welcome Malambing, Uncle Isow speaks....somewhat...highly of you."
" Welcome Jupp of the Denawa, I have not met one of your folk before...I hope you do not knock your head too much within my home."
" And....your two companions do not seem to be the same ones that were described to me...", she said smiling at Uce and Krikoris.
She shrugged slightly, " I thank you for your kind words Adik Malambing."
" For those who do not know I am Kiwa, Daughter of Senem who was murdered last night by a man most evil."
She waved them inside and bid them sit down around a table laden with fruits, various drinks and assorted satays.
As she sits, " I have my suspicions....but what do you know so far?
Her young face appears exhausted and strained but she keeps a composed exterior about her as she speaks.
Krikoris gives a hesitant chuckle, "Speaking only for myself, almost nothing. Its my first time to this area and I just met these two by chance and heard they had a job and offered to help out."
"It's my first time here too, ya," Uce says. "I'm looking for a lost city and I think this job might lead me to it."
