Samnang, in the absence of any obvious activity, will find a place to set up, looking to draw the attention of younger folk in the village, both Garunam and Lokanan alike, using a mixture a card tricks and minor sleight of hand.
Sleight of Hand: 18
Elsewhere nearby:
People began gathering to watch the show, mostly youngsters but also older folks as well.....though whether it was to witness the exceptional skills of prestidigitation or because so few of them had ever seen an Orang Pendek before was hard to say....but in only a short time Samnang had gathered up a tidy sum of 15 silver.
Most of the overheard gossip was about the weather, the price of food and some family squabbles...none seem to have heard about the murder yet.
"Maraming salamat, po - I couldn't help but overhear you needed a place to stay tonight? I'd be happy to guide you and your companions to a fair and reputable establishment. I am Malambing, guide and finder of lost objects, at your very reasonably priced service."
Rounding a nearby corner, you see a Merubat youth, barely seventeen summers, with a wide grin on his deeply tanned face and an unruly shock of black hair that defies gravity. He wears a sarang that may once have been green underneath a leather vest that looks like it was made for a larger individual. He carries pouches everywhere, and has a shortsword tucked into his belt, but no scabbard, a dagger tucked into a boot, but no socks, and a short bow with some wretched looking arrows wrapped in a threadbare blanket. He never drops his smile, but his eyes are always looking about, as though he would spring away like a startled frog at the slightest hint of a larger predator.
Clancy looks keenly at the newcomer, "Hi there, Malambing, what is 'reasonably priced'?"

Does this guy seem dodgy? Insight 17
(Just for fun, Deception: 5)
(He comes across as definitely dodgy, but not ill-intentioned - he's scruffy looking, and his demeanor is meant to be putting you at ease, but he's a little too enthusiastic.)
"Why, for the very low cost of five coppers, I can show you and your companions to the finest lodging in Parakan, the heart of the Veiled Garden, close to amenities, safe from dangers, and home to some of the finest food and drink you'll find around the lagoon." A mouse appears on his shoulder, and he turns to speak to it in a mock whisper, "I know, Bubu, they aren't local, that's why they need a guide - and no better guides than us, right?"
"Ahh, so is this you card?" The orang pendek smiles lightly at the mild wonder of the crowd. It'd been a while since she could just sit and run simple tricks to entertain folk. Although one or more of these folk could easily be murders. Keeping this in mind Samnang carefully watches the crowd. Is there any animosity between the villagers that are watching?

Insight: 20
Perception: 4
With her keen insight Samnang does pick up on some ill feeling between the two main ethnic groups, though its mostly very low level and restricted to some of the adults more than others. The kids seem to have no issues with each other, indeed she is so distracted by the many interactions that she does not see two men approaching dressed in somewhat dirty black sarongs and vests.
" You! Uh....Miss? Do you have a permit to panhandle here?", one of the men says brusquely, but a little off kilter at seeing one of your people.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Ah good sirs! I don't see the need for a problem here!" Samnang palms them a gold piece each "Why don't you come and enjoy the show?"
The orang pendek smiles warmly at the two men, but recognises their uniforms from the group with the guru. She's curious to see how the common folk engages with them.

Insight: 3
The mens expressions are implaccable and they seem to care little about the opinions of others, " Five silver and we can forget that you neglected to follow procedure."
The rest of the crowd doesn't seem angry with them just accepting but eager for the interruption to finish.
Samnang smiles, “Of, course.” She hands them a gold piece each and takes a moment to remember their faces. After all, a corrupt guard could be useful at a later date.

[I’ve already marked off 2 gold, one for each].
The men take the money with wide grins and the show goes on....
Jupp will stand at the back of the crowd watching how the people interact with each other then will look around for a group of children to see if the two races seem to have hate at a young age from the parents

Jupp determines much the same as Samnangs earlier observations.
With her routine finished Samnang makes her way over to Jupp. "So, what do you think big guy? Is this place a den of thieves and murderers?" There is a slight smile to the orang pendek's visage.
Mal looks around a bit, and says to his new mark friend, "Didn't you have a couple of companions with you? We should find them, I think, yes? Parakan is safe enough, but it's easy to step on toes here, and the Guru's men are less than friendly. Where are you all from? Have you come for the weather, or have you come because you've heard about our mangoes? What's your name, by the way?"

"Um yes, sorry I was a bit distracted seeing that my companions had all disappeared. If you're able to help me find them, there's a copper or two in it for you. I'm Clancy and I'm from very far away," Clancy glances around nervously and nods, "Please let's find my companions... What are mangoes???"

As Samnang finishes up a small female Lokanan child comes up to her and presses a small silver childs ring into her hand before running off giggling into the crowd...
"There is tension but the people you have been entertaining seem alright, I think either the Daughter or a bar might yield more information"
Looking about he doesn't see any bars as such in sight, though he remembers seeing some at the docks and is sure there must be others in other districts, there are a great number of stalls selling fruit juices and the like....he is really starting to broil in his armour...

The building site is back underway now that the body is out of sight, though the foreman is swearing in the background about some ' anjing' dumping a body on his desk and complaining that he can't find his drink.
Mal starts walking and talking as they go. "Clancy, a pleasure to meet you. I am Malambing, but you may call me Mal. Let's go find your friends. I have the most wonderful place for all of your needs - the woman who runs it, her name is Pilla. She's strong of opinion and quick with a slap upside the head if you're smart with her, but her satay is amazing and will have you wondering how you ever ate anything else. She's Lokanan, but she has a few of my people on staff so she's okay. Say, that's a big fellow - is that a Denawa? I haven't seen too many, I didn't realize they were so big! He looks a little lost, too. Is that one of your friends?" He talks a mile a minute, occasionally pointing out sights and waving to people he sees, but he is friendly and appears genuinely interested in whatever Clancy says.

"Why thank you little lady" Samnang smiles at the child before pulling a humorous face. She then turns the ring around in her fingers examining it.
Noticing the sweat pouring down Jupp's brow, "Bars are always good, and you look like you could use a drink!"

Isow looked up at the young interloper and gave him a false growl.
" Ah....well, you seem to be in safe hands now. ", Isow grinned.
" Malambing, take care of my very good friends...or else...", the old scarred man chuckled and wved goodbye to the group as he left the building site.
