Karl's gaze lingers on the pyre. A red wizard, they said. He would have liked to speak to such a wizard. Oh well. A wizard too weak to escape a lynch mob likely had no answers of note. Still, he makes note of the corpse's name. Dzaan.
As Matthias tries to talk with the local, Karl shifts closer to their arboreal companion. This was their first lead on chwingas, and it wasn't surprising that a creature of nature would be the one to recognize the word.
"Ay tree, did the woman name you? I was named Karl."

Auraani felt sick to her stomach. She knew what she had done was the right thing, rather than let the man suffer, but her stomach felt suddenly upset. She went down on one knee, clenching her stomach muscles in the attempt to avoid throwing up, and after a few moments felt a bit better. Her eyes had started to water a bit and she stood up and wiped them dry before catching up with the rest of the party.
Matthias raises an eyebrow at the tale from the local. He wondered how they knew all that, wondered what sort of trial the man had received. But there was nothing to be done about it now. "It sounds like he deserved punishment," is all Matthias says in response.
He turns back to the others and notes Auranni's distress as she approaches. "That was a merciful act," he says to her. "Though from what the locals said, the man murdered a party of adventurers he had hired rather than pay them. Still, flame is a cruel death. Never underestimate how nasty people can be to each other." He feels his own scars and burn marks tingle and sting a little under his clothes. "But you have a kind heart. That is good to see."
He then listens to the conversation with the tree. He ponders an idea regarding the tree as an affable, able and affordable hireling. It was likely very strong and able to carry a heavy load, something Mathias certainly couldn't say about himself. He responds to the trees last question. "Usually one's parents give a newborn its name, but it seems your 'mother' did not. That means you are that rare creature that has the opportunity to choose its own name. I'm sure we could help you come up with ideas if you'd like."
Ssej looks at the dead Red Wizards with no compassion at all as he has learned al ot over the past season she has been in this frozen hell of a land. The people are just as harsh as the wind that blows through your soul. He thinks nothing else of the matter except a passing thought of what a waste of meat.
Turning back to the tree, "Do you know if there are any Chiwinga'ss in the nearby area? We have been tassked to locate and capture ssome and need to know the location of where they are hiding."
"Finding chwingas is an interesting idea. Being a tree, I don't have much experience with searching things out, but I feel like chwingas may be elusive. They'll only be found if they want to b e found. I figure the chwingas will come to you if you put yourself in the right spot."

“No, I did not receive a name! How does one acquire such a fabulous thing??”

[OOC: Pretty sure at least I am hoping.]
Yeah I guess so. I mean, I'm still here and I could scoot the story along if that's what we want to do.
