"You should get some rest," Xhandras says. "You should not brave the Lightless Lands when you are weak or weary."
"I can't stand this infernal world. And who cares about light anyway?"
"Demonic, actually. And light can be useful for many things, even if you cannot see. Especially if you cannot see."
"Trust me, devils are far worse. I am one."
"You're a devil? I thought you were a tiefling."
"What's the difference, except that tieflings can't hide in the nine hells?"
"Tieflings are mortal. They can be infernal or demonic, and they can be good or evil, selfish or benevolent. They are the descendants of those infused with fiendish power, not beings made and ruled solely by that power."
"No one else cares. My human parents were killed just because I was born."
"Then I'm sorry for you. I of all people would understand your loss. Well, maybe one other," Xhandras says, his countenance darkening for a moment. "My parents both died of the same disease before I turned fifteen. I hated society for allowing them to perish. But instead of punishing society, I changed it."
"Society didn't just stand by when my family died. They did it themselves. That is why I will see it burn."
"Maybe you should consider that society isn't a singular being. It isn't torn between right and wrong. However many people wished to see you die, some believed you should live. Trust me on this."
"Do you know why I don't have a tail?"
"I can assume. But the actions of one, or even of many, do not always indicate the beliefs of all."

*I'm giving OOC examples of fear not always being caused by fear of not being accepted. From that point, we can extrapolate that it is possible to have other fears to not originate from this. Therefore, people being scared of the blind pyromaniac witch who looks like a fiend (a group of creatures that is rightly feared for wanton destruction), may not come from wanting to be accepted.*
