This has been confusing me for a while now. The Expert Strike feature: "You can add your Intelligence modifier to the attack and damage rolls of your weapons and Unarmed Strikes." I have the spell Chill Touch on my character, as part of my racial abilities, and it is also added to that spell but if I also take Shocking Grasp as part of my class spell list it isn't added. Both are considered "Unarmed Strikes" as they are both Touch spells but only Chill Touch is getting the benefit. It is also adding the Intelligence mod to the damage of All of my Attack related spells, regardless if they are "Touch" related spells or not.
Am I missing something?
I'm sorry that I do not have an answer to your question, but I am super curious about what species you're using that makes cantrips into unarmed strikes. Is that something from the Grim Hollow book?
No it's the 2024 Chthonic Tiefling. It gives me Chill Touch by default and it's affected by this ability. That's why I'm confused. I'm wondering if this is something that affects other races, or is something that is tagged as part of a background?

That's...weird. Spells with a range of Touch are definitely not Unarmed Strikes in general, so unless there's a specific class feature that does that specific thing, it really shouldn't be affected. Is it possible you have something else that's boosting the damage of that specific spell?

Chill Touch isn't an Unarmed Strike, it's a Melee Spell Attack, so that modifier shouldn't be added to it. Shocking Grasp is also a Melee Spell Attack. Neither is an Unarmed Strike.
That's true, but I get both spells from different sources and, even though they have the same basic principals behind their uses only 1 is triggered by the class effect.

It seems like the Heritage trait (seen in Humans) called "Skill Prowess" isn't set up to have limited uses equal to proficiency bonus that come back on long rest. It just says "Skill Prowess: Special".
Compared to "First Strike" which is also prof/long rest and correctly set up.
Studied Response + Push mastery: does pushing the attacker out of melee range cancel their attack?
Hi! I have a rules question about the Monster Hunter's Studied Response (L2 feature).
Studied Response reads:
When a creature you can see within 60 feet of you targets you or another creature with a melee or ranged attack, you can take a Reaction before the attack roll to make one attack with a weapon or an Unarmed Strike against that creature.
My character uses a Repeater Heavy Crossbow with Push mastery (PHB p.214), which pushes a creature 10 ft. on hit.
Scenario: An enemy at 5 ft. targets me with a melee attack (5 ft. reach). Studied Response fires before the attack roll. I hit with Push, moving the attacker to 15 ft. The attacker now has no target in reach.
Question: Does the original melee attack fail because the attacker is no longer in range, or does it still resolve?
Studied Response explicitly says "before the attack roll," so Push resolves before the d20 is rolled. By that point the attacker is 15 ft. away with a 5 ft. reach weapon. This seems like the attack should fail, but I wanted to confirm the intended interaction.
I'm sorry that I do not have an answer to your question, but I am super curious about what species you're using that makes cantrips into unarmed strikes. Is that something from the Grim Hollow book?

No it triggers immediately after gaining level 5.

ModeratorThat's a bug. It shouldn't apply to either of those spells. I've let the devs know.
