All vorpal swords come from the feywild. This is because it is impossible to craft one outside the feywild. And even then, blacksmiths must train for hundreds of years to perfect the technique to make a vorpal sword, as a vorpal sword must be perfect, otherwise it isn’t a true vorpal sword.
the process of crafting a vorpal sword takes several hours. First, you must gather the metal hair of a Korred or use metal that was used to kill something, and melt it. The fire must be fueled by the wood of a TumTum tree, occasionally found in forests in the feywild, known for their orange and pink leaves during Autumn. While the metal is heating up, you must not speak. You then must forge it into a perfect three foot long sword that is extremely sharp, which you must do while singing. It then must be cooled in the blood of a bandersnatch. After that, you wait for a time between 3 minutes and nine hours. (The maker instinctively knows when in that timeframe to do this) Once you do, swing the sword in the air facing west. If, and only if the sword makes a snicker-snack sound, is it a vorpal sword. A vorpal sword can cut through any nonmagical material and it never dulls. And, when fighting an opponent, the vorpal sword leaps towards the neck, usually decapitating them instantly.
only around a quarter of potential vorpal swords make a snicker-snack sound, so most of the swords a blacksmith makes using this technique aren’t even vorpal swords.
Vorpal swords were originally designed as a way to kill the bandersnatch, which is one of the only two ways to kill one. A bandersnatch’s blood is exceptionally hard to get from a living specimen, considering they can run as fast as quicklings, but it’s possible. However, Vorpal swords are now more commonly used as weapons for fey knights and champions as well as adventurers who can pay a Fey blacksmith the extreme price to make one for them. Winxy pistols are now the main method of killing bandersnatches, although vorpal swords still work.
any creature could theoretically create a Vorpal sword, but most can’t as it requires hundreds of years of training in order to learn how to do it perfectly, so fey are usually the only creatures that have the time.

The Bandersnatch was after him. That was for sure. Trout was a young satyr in the vast world of Feywild, his parents both being dead. His father died a hero in some battle long ago. And his mother, a bladesmith, had fallen in a riot against the Hourglass Coven. She had left her prized blade, recently cooled, named Mednieks, The Hunter. It was a Vorpal Sword, beautifully crafted and snicker-snacking with vigor.
Trout lifted the blade carefully. It was the dead of night, but he was wide awake. He had spotted the Bandersnatch with a handy enchanted spyglass that showed whatever you were searching for, as long as it was within a few miles. Trout hadn’t ever really been in a battle, other than simply play-fighting with sticks against his friends. Suddenly, a crash sounded against the door, a great body slamming into it.
Trout panicked. The Bandersnatch couldn’t be here already, could it? He knew it could move fast, but it was far away when he saw it in the spyglass. Trout gripped Medknieks, sweat dripping down his brow. Again, the beast crashed into the door and the wood groaned.
Suddenly, the Bandersnatch burst through the door, snarling and drooling as it thundered into his room. Fear grasped Trout, but then a booming determination flooded him. He tightened Medknieks even more, and as the Bandersnatch leapt, he swung with all his might.
And it was all over. The Bandersnatch lay at his feet, decapitated. Medkieks snicker-snacked in his hand. Thunder crashed outside and a heavy rain began to fall. Trout looked grimly outside, wondering what came next. His legacy has begun.
Witchlight is my favorite campaign, so this was fun to make.

Ooh, I love this! I’m glad I managed to inspire you to write something with my silly lore for Vorpal Swords.
No mortals have ever witnessed the utter horror that is Harpocrates and remained unchanged. Total, deafening silence that devours all in utter nothingness. The god of Secrets and silence is worshipped only by those who have been blessed by him and need to repay him, as no creature willingly worships the nightmare. His shrines are the underground sewers and crypts refurbished into secret halls of statues and the homes of cultists, filled with utter and divine silence. To break the silence is to disrespect Harpocrates, and so most of the shrines Are under a permanent silence spell.
now, why would anyone be serving Harpocrates, you may ask? Well, it’s because if you invoke his name and his symbol, the rose, and swear to secrecy about something, that secret will never be found out unless Harpocrates specifically wishes so. And creatures sell their souls to him for further protection, such as their whereabouts being hidden from their worst enemy, their secret lover being able to disappear from a nation even when they are being relentlessly hunted down, the location of a secret, world ending item can be forever erased from history, all for the price of your soul. And this is how the silent beast gains power, the souls of thousands who entrusted him with their secrets.
Harpocrates himself can’t be sensed by any means whatsoever, divine or otherwise, so his true form is unknown but rumored to be monstrous and beast like. But his avatars, which he sends to fight or make deals with creatures, are usually in the form of human children or enormous dire wolves with their mouths sewed shut. Their true form and avatars emanate a crushing silence that can physically harm people and that cannot be broken by anything short of an Overgod or the most powerful elder evils intervening, and their true form not being able to be broken at all, by any force in existence. This silence prevents Harpocrates from talking, so instead, he communicates using images, which he either draws or simply sends them directly to the target’s mind.
Harpocrates and his followers all smell strongly of roses.
*Woah, no way, I just shared a lore skit that I am still working on the Towering Tower of Lore. This place looks like a good place to get feedback and such! Alright...I plan to share it here soon...but it may be best if I finish it first to get optimal editing!*
LOVE THIS THREAD IDEA!
EDIT: You know what, for now, I will share the link to the Towering Tower of Lore post I made HERE, but I do plan to post the whole thing in this thread.
I have made a huge homebrew setting that I am still working on putting here in DDB. Please give me feedback, I want to know all of what I am doing wrong, and what I am doing right. The thread is a huge work in progress, so everything in it from content to layout is subject to change. Please check this forum:Welcome to Zionderia
Also I have a fun thread that explores an idea about dreams based off the movie Inception. I still need to add the link but stay tuned.

Okay read it all and ate some breakfast. Reminds me of my world a lot, Aeskillerion, which I am actually writing a novel in. The world was created by the Great Spiral, kind of like the Creator. I relate to Zeboim a ton, so that was fun. I have several commonplace books(notebooks) on my worlds, and this reminds me of those. Awesome worldbuilding! I hope you continue to create in this world :)

Thanks, really, really appreciate that man!
I have a lot that I am working on for sure as the story goes...but story writing to me has one major flaw often times, at least for my situation, it is lonely. No one else over here can help me write my story, and many people over here aren't interested in it (and also really, D&D from which much of my "lore" has been based off of lol). It makes for a lonely few hours during the day, where i sit having a good time getting the images in my head of this story that means a lot to me into a world, but...I am having fun alone.
I really appreciate this thread idea! I hope we get a lot of cool stuff here! I want to draw inspiration and just see what other people come up with!

I have some in mind I haven't fleshed, written, and fully decided on yet, so I want to hear y'alls first and then take it all into consideration. Love you guys! I can't wait to see some more stuff here!

Wow. That is some super cool stuff. I love the categorizing of creatures, the great names(Behemoth, Leviathan), and overall the general fantasy feel to it. I would just work on simply clarifying and continue to water the seed of this world.

Skavians are hardy. They have learned to survive from the bare minimum of resources. Forgotten and unknown, their groups in the windy, lonely deserts forge onward through the sand swirling around them and the hardships brought upon them. They know of the unnaturalness and unholiness of something around them, but don't investigate because of fear. They believe they are a cursed people, trapped in the confines of the desert. Their culture is based around appeasing the darkness that they feel. They believe that someday, if it becomes finally happy, it will remove their curse and they will be free.
They believe the wind is the Messenger of Shadow, carrying the Evil One's messages to them. The elders of the group decipher the shape of the dunes into messages and meanings, of what the Evil One is craving and what they wish for the Skavians to do. Mostly, they sacrifice precious meat on huge flaming pyres or sit in circles for days on end, watching water evaporate. Twice a year, or during an eclipse, they will carve a slate of quartz into a perfect sphere and bury it under the largest dune, then pour a week's worth of water onto the dune.
In art, they usually interpret the Evil One as a flaming sphere, but instead of producing heat and light, it sucks up heat and light and devours it. They draw these as glyphs in the sand and huge symbols in cliffsides. The Evil One is also often divided into three parts; Heart, Soul, and Core.
To avoid being transformed or corrupted by the Mirrorverse's horrid effects(and the part of the god's soul), they have found that washing themself in water tainted by scorpion blood cleanses them. The tides of the darkness ebb and flow constantly, so they wander the desert constantly to avoid being trapped in the shadow and devoured by its form.
They have nicknamed the creatures that have sprung from their thoughts of fear Stalkers. They have many forms, but they always have a few distinct features. Fierce, critical eyes that imply that the target must have done something wrong, a shadowy figure that can't quite be identified, and a daunting aroura of anxiety.
When a Skavian dies, they are buried under the largest dune while all of the Skavians across the entire desert sit in a perfect circle in complete silence for three days.

Ooh, I love the description! I can picture them and their lifestyle really well. So, would one objectively say the Skavians (or Stalkers) are evil? Are they violent or tyranical in any way that would make it so if they came upon a settlement in the desert, or a traveler, would they have reason to kill or harm them? I am asking cause I was wondering their relations with other creatures (which is probably how I should have started stating the question).

Oh, a little context. In this world, creatures are created from emotions, so that's how the Stalkers were born.
They are 100% not evil. To put it frankly, they are in a bad place. And they believe they can never leave. They are hidden by a huge wall of fog, so other creatures don't really know they exist. They aren't one race(species, whatever) collectively; instead, their built up of almost every race from across the realms. When they find another traveler(which has happened only once because its my character's backstory), they treat them as a blessing from the gods.

LOYAL FOLLOWER OF JEFF! PRAISE JEFF!!!
The Loom(my first thread)
Here’s a really old thing I wrote.
Vorpal swords

Wrote this story about the Vorpal Sword:

Boom!
Please check this forum: Welcome to Zionderia
Also I have a fun thread that explores an idea about dreams based off the movie Inception. I still need to add the link but stay tuned.
Thanks! Wow, that is a lot. Excited to read it!

I updated the thing I made in the link here:
It names so Seraphim types now, still needs some more work...slowly but surely. Please let me know of any changes or descriptions for these creatures you think would be good.
