what happens if the druid is made out of metal?... like a construct race?

"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
It's a carry over from older editions, but in this version is really just a roleplay thing. Druid's CAN wear metal, but won't, because it goes against their beliefs. I heard an analogy on this forum once that I liked; "vegetarians can eat meat, but if they do, they aren't vegetarians." Same thing with Druids.
If you feel strongly about your Druid wearing metal, talk to your DM and see if it's cool. Honestly though, it's not that limiting for them. Most anything you'd want to use as a Druid can come made from leather, wood, and bone.
By the by, they can still use things MADE of metal, they just won't wear it directly on their skin. They're proficient with sickles, scimitars, spears, etc. after all.
Most DMs will work with you and let you wear a breastplate made out of iron wood or something made out of serpent scales which will give you comparable AC. You also might be able to roll play something that makes sense like you don't want to wear the metal armor but it's cursed and you can't take it off or it's a family heirloom given to you by your father right before he died. Like Jaysburn said, just work with your DM but it's not a big deal if they don't go for it. Druids can do a lot of things already.

I'm confused. The class proficiency says " A druid will not use armor or shields made of metal"
The thing I'm confused about is the use of the word "will not" as opposed to "Can not".
What I'm trying to say is: can my druid wear metal if they want to, or is it a universal rule that druids can't wear metal?
Also, why is this even a thing? No other clas has this weird limit to what they can wear.

search the threads...there's several on this topic.
