So, I am building a druid and i have a question if something is possible. I am thinking about an aarakocra druid, and I would like to know if it is possible to wildshape in the air and then fall down on a group of enemies. If so, how would the damage work?
I fly over a group of enemies, and decide to wildshape into a bear. I fall down on the group, how would this work?
Same question for a small animal like a spider, for example an infiltration mission.
This seems like a good action for role playing situations, but i would like to ask how this would work beforehand, because I am hesitant to chose Aarakocra as my race. Input is greatly appreciated.
Well, just remember that a spider the size of your hand would give a bumb. Well. For every 10 ft you fall you take 1d6 points of damage. So.... could work. But it's mostly up to the DM. I would say depending on your size I would increase or decrease the damage, but else liek 20 ft up, I would rule that you do an extra 2d6 damage, but perhaps you would need to make a skill check or for that matter an attack roll as it would be a free 2d6 points of damage. ^^
Yeah, I think I would have to talk to my DM about how to do this. My idea was as follows: in case of an infiltration job, i fly up to the place, say a fortress, wildshape into a spider in the air, fall down and do reconnaissance.
Since a spider or mouse in real life can fall 1000 feet without taking damage (since their weight is too low for real impact), I'm hoping my DM accepts my arguments and let me play it out this way. My Aarakocra Druid is one bad-ass infiltration specialist! ;-)

Also, new to the forum, nice to be here! :)
There are no rules for creatures falling on and damaging other creatures. The result will depend on your DM.
Thanks, that was what I was afraid of. My DM is awesome, but some rules regarding falling/swooping would be handy.
So my idea of a stealthy flying black ops shape-shifting bad ass is still possible.. ;-)

Hmm, that wasn't my intention. No way to delete a post?
