At the moment im writing a story, so its not technically dnd but its heavily based on it.
In this story, the main plot is that tiomat has sent down four different elemental dragons to change the land in the way she likes. The previous adventuring party that are now retired had a dragon bloodline sorcerer, and he went crazy directly before fighting an ice dragon, and trued to tame it. The dragon immediately got infuriated, and went around the land to freeze all of it, but then the fire dragon noticed and went around melting the snow, so the entire land is half frosted waste, and half burned waste.
So now the current main party has to fix everything, and banish tiomat.
The thing I need help with is that I wanted a second party to rival the main one, although I mostly added them so it would be more realistic, since if there's a call for the most powerful adventurers, then it would make sense to have at least more than a 4 man party of level one wierdos.
Is it too cramped to have a second party made up of npcs, then another party of npcs that have retired
(The main party is made of 9, then 3 die and are replaced the rivals are a group of 6 with no deaths and the retired party is made of 5, but one is killed by a party member)
