In most ways, I'm an old-school DM. I like having books and real dice. My most regular campaign is using Roll20 however. One of the ways I prep - or try to prep - is to copy stat blocks and monster info from the MM or my notebook onto index cards for easy reference during play. I file the cards and re-use them. I usually like to have paper for most things during play.
I'm not currently a paying member of D&D Beyond. Do you guys think D&DB would be useful to me given my DM style? I was thinking I'd print Monster cards during prep and generate NPCs. I'm currently using Storm King's Thunder for the main plot of the campaign and the setting - but I plan on having side adventures and post SKT adventures introduced from other writers and settings as well as some stuff that I've put together. Is it worth having D&DB for primarily pencil and paper DMs?
Thanks for your insights,
-Bill

I'm an old School Dm/ Player (AD&D) to the point I still have my players roll 3D6 for stats. I use this as a way to keep track of PC's, Spells and monsters. I copy the spells and Items down ( Thoes that aren't free I look up else where) on note cards and it works out at the table. As a reference toll it works fine for me
I would totally say yes, I don’t get everything at once, so monster or item bundle here and there. So I’m slowly getting it all. It is fairly good and not having to spend something on everything when I don’t need it.
For all my players I make their character sheets on here and export them. Then I change what I need too. It makes it fast for data. If you get all your players to join a campaign thing and you have the DM status you can basically share with all of them with only one person using an “active” account.
I use the thing for my character because it would be to much for me to get together, I am strongly looking at a small donation form my players so we can all benefit from it.
