Just to clarify, because I don't see it stated explicitly anywhere, if an intellect devourer is already inside a creature's head, does it still make its Devour Intellect attack from within the host, or can it only attack when it's driven out of its current host when it's killed?
The intellect devourer retains its Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma scores, as well as its understanding of Deep Speech, its telepathy, and its traits. It otherwise adopts the target’s statistics.
The Intellect Devourer is using the host's statistics, and the exceptions don't include its actions. It doesn't have access to Devour Intellect or Body Thief.
