"And let her find you, Cyprian, bitterer still, to stop her loud mouth from saying ever that Eros, hot and flustering, came to Dorica a second time." You've reminded me of a motivation that will be apposite for the assassin I'm sending after my group. Her name is Lyla. She's a Holy Executioner from The Black Church of the Mistress of Mistresses. Mechanically, a Death Cleric a few levels higher than the party who travels with a coterie of animated servants. I did a character sheet for her, but I haven't filled out personality traits, etc. I think Sappho's line will be her bond.
I have a big bad in my campaign who was cursed by a god into not being able to be in his true from in her sacred forest (after he killed one of my characters mothers who was a druid and strong worshipper of the god.) So he appears in the forest and generally most of the time as a faceless monk, in his dojo in the desert he teaches martial arts and eventually gets his students to fall into the maws of evil. As he reveals his true form of a big blue dragon.
PS. The dragon is also the son of the other BBEG, who is trying to take over the world while this dragon just wants to rule the continent.

I'm trying to make a campaign with Titivilus. There is news that an old adventurer accidentally opened a portal to the nine hells after trying to rescue a friend of his. Demons and devils are pouring out so as to conquer the land. Titivilus is angry at the Material Plane as well as the Upper Planes. He was banished by the angels of Arcadia to the underworld and cursed with a devilish form. In the hells, he learned to conquer, use magic, and learned to resist the pain of the material. He hates all things holy and good and wants the world to burn like he did in the hells. He is a sly, cunning devil with an ambition to take over not only the middle and upper planes, but also rule the hells as the arch-devil of the underworld.
I am using Titivilus because I want something a bit more original as oppose to something like a lich with an undead army or something lame like that. Devils aren't especially original but I just love Titivilus. I'm starting my characters at level 3 and have a really long campaign because Titivilus is like a CR 16. I think it's cool but I'll be writing a while before we can play.
Oooo I shall surely post my villains here, here's my current favorite I've made
Father Lucius is a high priest for his church. But the rise of new religions is causing him to fear for the future of his faith. So, he sought out an item, called The Tome of Horrors (a little something I'm homebrewing) a book that can summon monstrosities from other realms. Father Lucius uses the book to summon monsters from other realms and make it look like they came from the other churches. He believes that framing the other religions for being the cause of these monsters appearing will cause more people to go to his church, and it works! Father Lucius genuinely believes that what he is doing is righteous and will stop at nothing to destroy the other faiths and have his religion stay the dominant one

So I have like three tiers of BBEG as the players progress and power up. The first layer is the head of an international trading company who is actually the head of a secretive crime syndicate and uses her positions in both to more or less control and affect a majority of the world for her personal gain in some way or another. The next step up is the Prince of Twilight who is an evil fey who I've added some homebrew to make him a bit stronger and more intriguing. The last tier is the deity called "The Traveler" who is the god of chaos basically. The Prince of Twilight was trapped in a special mirror of trapping which was being transported by the first lady because she was unknowingly influenced by The Traveler. The Traveler wants the Prince free because he aligns with The Travelers values of chaos and illusion and The Traveler wants him as an agent in the Material Plane and the Feywild as well. Still sorting out how to get them to follow this thread all the way through but that is a pretty broad look at all the BBEG without any specific details of character.
My level 7 party has multiple threats hunting them, 2 players, 3 dmpcs. For my bbeg, at least the main one that will actively hunt them through out the rest of the campaign, I am going to use an Elder Brain Dragon, Named The Madness that Crawls. If you havent checked these things out yet, they are nightmare fuel, even for a level 20 party. How do they fight a dragon that sprays tadpole breath, has mindblast, can fly and swim, and has an endlessly increasing army of mindflayers to serve it(if left unchecked, it could be thousands of mindflayers).

BoringBard's long and tedious posts somehow manage to enrapture audiences. How? Because he used Charm Person, the #1 bard spell!
He/him pronouns. Call me Bard. PROUD NERD!
