okay guys- my party just killed a fiend in Barovia. I'm confused on what happens to it- since the dark powers keep souls trapped there, should the devil just be able to rebuild its body? does it stay immaterial and basically harmless? as a being like that cannot die permanently except on its home plane i am confused and wanted some ideas of how you would handle this.
Also, said fiend is the patron of one of the warlocks my party is dealing with- how do you handle it when a warlock loses its pact- do you let them keep what they have gained or if the pact is broken do they lose their power?

As you said, it cannot die permanently, so the warlock will retain their powers. However, if your warlock has broken the terms of their pact in another way, I would remove all class features from the creature and they must do one of three things: Restore their pact by bargaining with the fiend, select another creature to craft a pact with, or give up on their warlock powers and select a new class. Permit them to reroll hit points, but they should only be able to redo up to half of the ability score for increases/feats that they have gained. If you want to let them switch up those increases/feats more and maybe even rearrange a few (but not all) ability scores, I recommend having them be a level lower than the rest of the party and they have to earn their way back up.
As for the essence of the fiend? That’s up to you. I, personally, would have it return to its home plane to regenerate because if a creature is powerful enough to grant powers to warlocks I would assume it is powerful enough to defy the dark domains. However, if the flavor of your campaign suggests that having the devil become trapped as part of Barovia, be unable to reform, or something similar would be more appropriate I suggest you do that. As always, the essential nature of creatures (for fiends, they return to their home plane upon death) should usually win out. Usually.
In terns of warlock pacts it depends how you see the pact as working. A warlock can gain power any of the following ways
The patron teaches them magical secrets
The patron uses magic to transform or change them
The patron does magic on the warlocks behalf or channels power through them like a conduit
Only the last option make sense to be revoked.
As for what happens to spiritual entities that are discorporated in ravenloft they can
be banished to their home plane
be trapped in incorporeal form inside the demiplane
be reincarnated inside the demiplane
Which actually happens is going to depend some what on the demiplane. The dark lords have some control so if they want to keep a fiend or banish them they often can. At the same time the demiplanes also often try to torment the dark lords so they might trap a fiend there as part of their torment. The fiend itself may become trapped in it's own demiplane or be tied to a place of great evil that is also drawn into the mists. Finally multiple can happen at once, as a fiend may lose part of themselves but also have part escape or only be able to partially reincarnate.
