I am a new DM who's played DND a while and my party of 6 is experienced so I want to challenge them. This is a one-shot that might end upgoing for two sessions. What are some good ideas for puzzles or riddles for them to escape? So far it goes like this, scene opens in the middle of a street where the party is being ushered onto a prison wagon. All of their weapons' and armor are confiscated at this time and they are handcuffed with special cuffs that make them unable to use spells for as long as they wear them. (Note: I told them they are allowed to sneak something into the prison as long as they come up with a good way to hide it from the guards) A curious NPC asks them what crimes they've committed and that's how they learn about each other. When they get to the prison they are assigned cells and its two people per cell. That's what I have as of now.
Would it be a curious NPC to ask, or would one of the jailers confirm the crimes for them? Seems odd for guards to stop with an arrest so some civilian can talk to the wrongdoers.
What level will they be? That'll be the biggest factor in determining the type of challenges presented.

I know what you're thinking: "In that flurry of blows, did he use all his ki points, or save one?" Well, are ya feeling lucky, punk?
Make sure to have a set garrison and rooms, because a breakout is a LOT to manage. Also, (I’ve definitely fallen victim to this) DON’T EXPECT THEM TO MAKE A PLAN. They won’t. They will always either attempt to fight their way out or mention something stupid to an NPC that gets them caught. Try enlisting them in a premade mass escape plan, that way they can be given jobs and have more of a structure.

“In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbithole, and that means comfort.”
