So I was perusing the Dungeon of the Mad Mage and the other levels of therein of the Undermountain and noticed that the whole section of the Promenade of the Dark Maiden aka the Temple of Eilistraee in Undermountain is gone.It was on the Sargauth level of the dungeon and now it's been replaced with other stuff. Which is fine, just weird considering sources say they are rebuilding the temple in the underdark.
Ok.
But where? And why change this little piece of canon?
Interesting. And too bad. I just Googled the question, since I don't own Mad Mage yet, but I was curious whether the Temple was still included in Undermountain. No respect for good drow, I guess...
Something worth noting is that the Dungeon of the Mad Mage is just part of the ruins of Undermountain - there is plenty of scope to expand yourself using content from previous editions or homebrew.
@SANSd20, you're right. In the "canon" it was destroyed and the temple is being rebuilt and the Goddess is only now reappearing, even dancing upon the walls of Waterdeep (1491).
It just struck me as odd that the drow, Azrok and a dwarven Temple of Dumathoin moved in in less than 100 years.
@Stormknight, you're correct. I can easily move it. But was hoping to cheese it with prebuilt maps. :D And possibly prebuilt encounters. /sigh Guess I'll put my PS4 away and work on my game. :P
And to be fair, I manipulate the current timeline of the canonical game setting into my own thing anyway. I was just taken aback at this change and was looking forward to pushing my group from Skullport to the Sargauth level. I still can, just not as non-railroady... LOL I think?
I'm not sure if this is allowed here, so if not, maybe a mod could delete my post. I've had a short chat with Tommaso Sammarco over at the dmsguild about this topic in the comment section of his work regarding the history of Eilistraee. Maybe this is interesting here as well. I think his nickname here on ddb is Irennan if I'm not totally mistaken.
Hey @Wayne, I'm familiar with that pdf and own it. It's good stuff.
I think I may have found an answer in this Lore You Should Know Segment on the History of the Undermountain with Chris Perkins.Chris explains that the dungeon changes over time(some places) and that what was once "familiar" may not even be there any longer. And like others said, the complex is HUGE and not everything is mapped out. So I'm going to keep the current DotMM level of the Sargauth, warts and all, by placing a portal hidden within the temple to Dumathoin that leads to a separate complex connected to the 3rd level and the Underdark.
My thought is that the Temple of Dumathoin is front for the temple of Eilistraee, which lies behind the walls of Dumathoin. A front, with the full cooperation of the Dwarves!!! Say the word, friend, and enter...
@Wayne1017. That pdf. on DMGuild is a cornucopia of information, and anyone interested in Eilistraee should definitely pick that up.

I compared the map from Dragon magazine 175 here to the one in the adventure.
Does anyone know where the temple is located now? Or if it exists in canon any longer?
***edited because I forgot to include the link to the current map. And no updated with better grammar!!
Just curious.
Thanks!

These these things are also dynamic. The temple may not exist in that location in 5e. It could have been moved or destroying at this point in time.
