I came across some videos which talked about the lore surrounding dragons. I found it fascinating thus I looked at the Monster Manuel to confirm the lore, but found that it did cover the monster but not to the extent of the video. I checked a couple of the other books, and D&d beyond but they don't cover the lore behind the monsters like in the video. The name of the video is "Dungeons and dragon lore: What the Monster Manual doesn't tell you about blue dragons" by MrRhexx. He doesn't explain where he gets this martial so I'm left clueless where to find this lore. Do you guys have any idea where I can look?
Some of his references from earlier editions come from may come from the book, "the Art and Arcana of dungeons and dragons" (as well as the old monster manuals etc). If you are in the forgotten realms, you may find this interesting as well, as it covers some of the major dragons in the realms:
"An' things ha' come to a pretty pass, ye ken, if people are going to leave stuff like that aroound where innocent people could accidentally smash the door doon and lever the bars aside and take the big chain off'f the cupboard and pick the lock and drink it!"
That video is part of a series of dragon lore videos.
Somewhere in one of them (there must be 2 or 3 hours of this series already), he mentions that he is pulling lore from previous editions of D&D. In particular, I think he references the most resent version of the draconomicon for some of it.
I have the Dragonomicon that was published in 2003 for a previous edition and it has a lot of lore on dragons, such as explaining their biology, magical nature, reproductive cycle etc.
Whilst the stat blocks in that book would need some work to convert to the current fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons, the majority of the book is still a good read if you're interested in dragons.
Volo's Guide has lore for some monsters, but not all of them.
Dragon magazine ran a column called The Ecology of ... If you can get access to back issues.
There are a number of blogs that discuss monster lore. Most are not official lore, but rather home-brew based on a mix of traditional folklore, fantasy books and movies, and various D&D variants and previous editions. Googling the monster you are interested in should turn up resources like this.
There is a tone of monster lore and the related on youtube. There are some really cool 3.0/5 books with detailed lore on monsters. Whole books covering one creature. There was one on mind flayers and one on Beholders for example.

Edit: Some may also be related to Iymrith, who is also described here:
