There's one clearly marked (a circle and an Infernal Script letter) location that doesn't have an explanation on the DM's version of the Avernus Map and I can't connect it to any location in the book text. It's located slightly North from Spawning Trees on the East Bank of River Styx and has a picture of a monster and a small mountain with horns.
Of course I can place there whatever I invent, but I was wondering whether I missed something on the first reading and it's supposed to be connected to the storyline somehow?
True, maybe they are not Infernal Runes after all. But all the other places marked with them and/or circles are actual Encounter locations. This one is not. I don't recognize the monster depicted there, either.

Interesting - there are several places on the map where such "runes" are shown, like above Arches of Ulloch and above Demon Zapper.
As best I can tell, none of them are actually infernal runes, so it's difficult to know what the meaning is (if there is any).
