One of my players is making a new character after his fighter died, and he choose to be a bard.
I was like, that's interesting, he hasn't done a spell casting class before...
So what's the weirdest instrument you've let your bard specialize in?... Cause he chose the grass whistle... I mean it's technically an instrument, it makes a sound and you can change the notes somewhat by moving your fingers slightly... Should I let him do it? Have you let a player specialize in an even weirder instrument?
If it makes sense and doesn't break anything I don't see any reason he shouldn't be able to use a grass whistle as an instrument. The weirdest I've seen was a campaign a while ago i was playing in and the DM let the bard forgo using an instrument and just be skilled in Tuvan throat singing which led to some fun scenarios since the bard technically couldn't be separated from his instrument.
Hey, my friend just chose to use a blade of grass as a bard weapon for our new campaign. Do you remember the stats you allowed for it? Just wondering where to go from here.
