What is Random Encounter Monday? Well, it is where I take a randomly generated combination of monsters and write a suitable encounter as a design challenge!
What challenge are we throwing at a 4th level party this week?
Are the heroes sent to oppose the half-ogre or work with them? How docile are the numerous beasts? And how can you involve water? All things to consider!
I am so glad this is back! What if the half-ogre is a river guide like in those nature tv shows and accidentally falls in the water while showing the party the crocodile? After the party defeats the crocodiles, the vegetarian swarm of quippers is attracted to the splinters of the boat in the water and show up to try to eat the characters’ boat, and if the characters get in the way, well, they aren’t that vegetarian.
anyway, the encounter you linked is really cool, can’t wait to run through it.

Red Water Under the Bridge The half-ogre Grizg guards a bridge over a river notorious for its dangerous inhabitants. Grizg demands that any who wish to cross the bridge pay him a toll... or be eaten by his pet quippers.
Grizg waits at the far end of the bridge. When he notices passerbys, he dashes towards the center of the bridge to cut them off. Grizg then demands that the adventurers pay him a toll of 30 gp per person. If the group declines or tries to flee, Grizg uses his strength to attempt to shove them into the water for his quippers to eat. However, if any blood is spilled, its scent attracts two crocodiles, who try to eat the injured creature, or if they aren't in the water, go after the quippers. If one of the swarms is reduced to 17 HP or fewer, Grizg jumps into the water in an attempt to fend of the crocodiles. The quippers make no distinction between their prey, and will consume Grizg if he jumps in. If he's reduced to 12 HP or fewer by the quippers or crocodiles, Grizg pleads for the adventurer's help and offers them all of his money, a total of 60 gp.
