I was think the other day of trying to get a cheap projector and trying to use it to send the map onto the table that we use the Miniature's on. While I could not set it up permitly the basement ceiling is only about 6' or 6 1/2' so I do not think it would need to be to powerfull to do this and it it would be more about sending the image from a laptop or phone.
Has anyone else done somthing like this and if so what did you have luck with and what was a epic fail.
How about flipping the concept? Use a cheap flatscreen tv as your battlemap. That would solve the typical issue of ambient light messing up clarity/contrast of a projector. It would also work with the lower ceiling heights in your gaming space. There are a lot of YouTube videos of people doing this, from simple setups to complex custom tabletops.
