In my dnd group, we go all into the arts and crafts, mostly in the form of character journals. For instance, we take normal white binders, get discount leather at hobby lobby, and cover the binders in leather. Then we make the stat sheets out of scrapbook paper. Then we make things based on our characters and their past experiences to go into the journals. Does anyone else go this detailed into their character journals? Is it weird? XD I'd be very interested to hear what everyone does!
Mine isn't scrapbooky, but I do have a journal for one of my characters, chronicling the adventures of the party from her point of view. It's all electronic but it includes some scanned drawings, various other images that matched the items or scenes, etc.
Weird or not I've learned a lot from doing it and have definitely leveled up my writing and drawing skills. Sometimes I worry that it feels a little overly Extra but I do it for my own enjoyment, and I share it with the rest of the table. I think at least the DM appreciates it, and maybe not every player but some do.
Mine is also just digital and does not involve scrapbooking, but technically speaking I do still keep a journal yes. We even use a fake calendar, so I keep track of the dates that way.
I do love that you made your own fancy leather binders!
My journal is electronic as I said but my raw notes are scrawled on pages kept in a very nice leather covered binder from Elderwood Academy. I've scanned and printed some of my art on binder paper and added it to that journal. It feels nice to have it in something that feels good in my hand and sort of period-appropriate when I'm frantically writing down clues or all the ways we're about to die. :-)
That's awesome you guys!! I love hearing about the different ways people get into their characters. I would recommend character journals to anyone who's thinking about it. It's a lot of fun and really helps to develop your OCs.
I don't personally, but it sounds like something that would be fun! I never thought about making like a scrapbook for a character but I do have folders on my computer that are organized by the OCs that I made on Picrew.
All of my characters keep very detailed notes, some written from a third person perspective of the group's adventures, others written as first person diaries.

Playing D&D since 1982
Have played every version of the game since Basic (original Red Box Set), except that abomination sometimes called 4e.
