Hey everyone, I’m pretty much a total newbie. I have been part of 1 campaign (still running) but only with a small group of friends and only once a month if that. I’m 42 so probably a bit of a late bloomer but found that I have totally loved it so trying to find a group that might be willing to take in a naive but enthusiastic beginner? I have become a bit obsessed with creating characters on D&D Beyond (I enjoy the creativity & creative writing aspect) so I already have many options to choose from but would always appreciate guidance (pun intended).
GMT. Mon/Tue/Wed evenings would work best but will try to be flexible.
I have a campaign on Mondays time to be nailed down, but it will be 7-8:30 start time. I enjoy helping new players and am happy to develop players ideas.
There are quite a number of Discord communities running D&D. These vary from folks running Adventurers League to sites for people just getting together to play D&D or West Marches style campaigns (West Marches is sort of a mission based D&D where folks sign up to play and a DM runs an adventure at a convenient time).
However, I'd also check your local game stores to see if they run D&D. It can be a good place to meet folks with similar interests. This is useful since it is nice to play a game or two with folks to see what they are like and how the group gets along before committing to a longer campaign.
There are also online groups that are geographically based that might run both in person and online events. So .. I'd look to see what might be available in your area.

If you do not mind paying for games, there is a good site called https://startplaying.games/ . There are occasional free ones on there too.
