I'm planning to do an extension of my main campaign into PbP to expand my worlds lore (i am running a main one right now). but i do have a bit of writers block as what the main quest should be- espionage? a heist? Outlaw stuff? trying to make a profit (semi) honestly?
my campaign lore is a bit complicated too. and i tried writing it down, but really, I couldn't stomach it as it is a bit complex)
to put it in a nutshell though
the year is 1902. The players have arrived in Port Marecageux a southern port in Falmuth state, one of the great states of the underworld, (sort of like New Orleans) 6 years before mortal immigration became properly legal. Not that hundreds of thousands of mortal humans didn't live alongside demons already, due to the 1830s tradition of mortal slavery (specifically in Weston state, which is north of Falmuth. Luckily abolished in the 1850s, but still sort of practiced on the remote islands, particularly coffee exports)
It was a time of great change, the pioneer days had died years ago. as domestic electricity, telephone, wireless telegraphs, motorcars, steam ships- even the areoplane (in the campaign, was invented in 1898), was getting far more common to see.
It also was a period of an embracement of entertainment, phonographs, motion pictures, and photography came to the working class aswell. Vacations too were getting available due to the increased trade between the over- and underworld. The underworld became a gem in many people's eyes, the golden land to live the dream. stowaways being a regular issue with the law.
even though the economy was indeed getting better, there was still a class divide. especially with the newer migrants.
and outside of port Marecageux- East- the far, far plains and desert, the north, more tropical temperatures (plus a lot of cities i have a bunch of lore on!) but alas, traveling by foot is indeed treacherous, what with Skinwalkers, mimics, wild creatures- and even people!
Preferred travel by the 20th century is by steamship, or train. nobody yet wished to drive automobiles far distance yet, It would take around 20 years to catch on.
I wouldn't say Port Marecageux is not really the crime capitol, Rosewood in Weston state is that, with the mobsters from Isola Rosca.
In 1906, Frederik Burke will enact the Prohibition act , (in 1929, the last state to opt out of the act was actually Maitland, a very far north state, a land ridiculously rich with oil.
There is still outlaw gangs in Falmuth, but a majority of these groups were dissipated or consumed by the more prevalent organised crime of Rosewood, or Isola rosca.
Please feel free to ask questions, i am starting on the intro but not sure what the long-term goal should be as i have a bit of writers block.
