A Most Potent Brew, by Winghorn Press is a short, self-contained level 1 one-shot that's well presented. Especially if I had limited time and/or a lot of first time players, it'd probably be my first choice.
Tower of the Mad Mage, by M.T. Black is another good one. Estimated 4-6 hours, but it would lend itself well to shortening up if need be.
