Wouldn't really call myself an "Expert Veteran", but responding for giggles.
(1) Never. I play offline and operate by invite only. (2) My players aren't anonymous, so checking out their Facebook and getting recommendations from other players. (3) N/A. I've stuck with the same group for an extended period of time.
It sounds like you're asking about online DMing through DNDBeyond specifically, so I can't be much help for VTT games. However, results are going to vary wildly.
(1) I've interacted with games that get anywhere from 0 to dozens of interested players. If you are getting too few/many, it could have to do with your LFG post being poorly written. (Normally, I would have players posting interest in the thread itself, not by messaging me directly.) (2) In PbP games, it is common to ask for a link to previous games or a writing sample. For streamed games, you may consider a simple survey to feel them out. (e.g. Longest game. Intraparty conflict resolution. DM/Player relationship. etc...) (3) If you are interested in a fast game, then finding a party should only take a couple of days. However, if you want to find a good party, then don't be afraid to set a deadline of a few weeks.
Also, if you are comfortable running multiple games, you could build a filter for yourself by running short games as a feeder for your major campaigns. If anyone doesn't work out, then just don't invite them to the next campaign. They get to play as long as they expected to, and you get to avoid drama down the road. Win/Win.
I think you might want to edit the title to say "Veteran online DMs" or something so people know what you are asking. I can't answer any of these questions any more than Mem could.

WOTC lies. We know that WOTC lies. WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. We know that WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. And still they lie.
Because of the above (a paraphrase from Orwell) I no longer post to the forums -- PM me if you need help or anything.
I actively recruit players so I already know who they are. Regarding PBP, I'm running my game with whoever signed up. I'm lucky in that they seems pretty good.
DDB PBP forum can get you a ton of requests daily so it shouldn't take long to fill a roster.

How often do players message you about joining a game, on average? Like: per day.
How do you screen players? What do you do?
How long does it take to gather a new group?
Well, I'm not really an "expert veteran online dm", but I do have some experience with online dnd. As you can see in my signature, I'm DMing 7 pbps as of right now. Anyway, here are your answers:
1. It really depends on how well you right your looking for players post, but the best get 10-20 a day.
2. I usually let players post thier character with backstory and what not for a week or so. Then I choose the best few.
3. You can get enough players in a day usually, but I usually keep applications open for a week or so, to make sure I have good players.
I don't run open games, all my players are real life friends that I have met, or played with in other people's games and got to know them before inviting them to join mine.

Neever get messages. I post a game with time and day and people sign up. I don't screen players. Games fill up within an hour of the post. I run the game, people have fun and go about their day. I'm in a discord server with a lot of players and DM's. So finding and playing one shots are easy. Don't set up campaigns anymore.

Pretty much what they said.
Nobody ever messages me about joining a game.

Is this the game you started up to prove that D&D exists?

After reading the advice in this thread, I've decided to delete and post a different ad with better grammar and more lax requirements.
