I couldn't find anyone else that has run into this but I'm session planning and noticed that my party are going to run into the Harengon Brigands that were described. They sing songs and seem to have a charismatic leader and are going to try and steal memories from the party.
However my entire group of players rolled Harengon and I'm curious about what to do if they try to join them or get the harengon to join the party. From what I can see the Harengon are happy being brigands under the hag Balvorna but that doesn't put them directly at odds with the party since she didn't steal anything from the party.
Any advice on how to ensure the party don't see others of their kind and immediately decide to join them instead? Or did I miss something when reading over the chapter?
No, but humans are bog standard. Harengon are different and new and in interviews WoTC writers have said players were so attached to these characters that they made them a playable race because people wanted to be them.
Nothing you just said makes any since, the dudes point still stand perfectly clear.
They got attacked by random people, in a hostile envirion. They will not join them without a solidly good reason. The race of thing that attacked them does not matter, they got attacked.
Reading the book you see they don't attack. They just try to rob them and if it comes to battle they quickly are cowed and run away.
I'm looking for suggestions here, every table is different. Just because your players might attack doesn't mean mine will so I'm looking for help here. If you don't have something to suggest beyond criticism then I'd appreciate moving on to other threads.

Spoilers: All races in D&D are basically humans. Just because a character looks like a rabbit, doesn't mean they don't act exactly like a human.
All the above points stand, if you were running a campaign in a dwarf city, and your party ran into a group of dwarves they don't necessarily know said they wanted to rob them they wouldn't join them as a rule.
The harengon isn't necessarily native to this particular part of the feywild. There just happens to be some here. Unless the characters backstory states that they were part of the band and then left I don't see why they would want to join or have any connection to them what so ever. My half elf has no particular affinity for other half elves.
Hope this helps

Hey All,

Thanks in advance.
I mean, if your whole party was all human and attacked by a group of humans, would they automatically join them?

Ok so i will reiterate my original statement:
if your whole party was all human and was ROBBED by a group of humans, would the party automatically join the robbers?
