Have any of you considered using Strixhaven as a starting point for your campaign, instead of your typical tavern?
My ideas are to use it to go to Candlekeep as a request of one of the professors, or go to the Witchlight Carnival who arrive at the campus or simply to Ravenloft as all roads lead to Ravenloft.
I love the idea of having the carnival at the campus, I may steal this one!
In regards to having it as a starting point, it would be good to know what year the players would initially be in. If they are first years then travelling away from campus for a while may not be something they'd want to do. They may need a very motivating task to get them to essentially quit the college. While if they were in their final year they'd already be around level 7/8 or higher. You'd have to jump into another module at a later level.
I do think it's a great idea to have it as a starting point for a campaign, just needs some understanding on their starting levels.
Those are good suggestions TazzerB. I think I will be testing the waters with Candlekeep Mysteries, Harry Potter Style. They do one adventure per year as favor/punishment for a professor who have ties with Candlekeep, by the time they graduate they could be offered a position on Candlekeep as a reward for all their services.
PS If you run the carnival on Campus please let me know 👍
I have been curious about tying the Candlekeep mysteries into the Strixhaven academy, but given that I know nothing about the lore of either of them I was not sure how well they would mesh.
Like, what if you just reflavored the stuff about Candlekeep to be the Strixhaven library?

Is that player age or character age!?
