Looking for some advice to increase the prominence of the Talos worshippers in DOIP in order to foreshadow the follow on adventures which seem to be more orientated around Talos worshippers
The most common method is to switch Cryovain for a Young Blue Dragon and have the cult worship him as an emmisary of Talos. I did that, so I also switched the orcs from being displaced from their home by cryovain tonbeing part of an orc horde near triboar that works with the cult. To deal with the horde Phandalin asked Neverwinter for help and the end of the campaign will have a part of it attacking phandalin a day before the neverwinter army arrives.
The Stone Cold Reavers were then changed to be a buffed up Anchorite that is the leader of the cult, two orc veteran and a red fang of Saagras. The temple with the golden bell became an advanced base for the army and so did Wyvern Thor (from LMoP).
Gorthok was also summoned before the party went to the circle of thunder so now the cult is preparing a ritual to summon a giant storm that will follow it around so that it can destroy everything in its path to pave the way to the army.
I also had the orcs attack phandalin using nurtured of yuugrus to spread a plague and an anchorite crash a meeting between druids when one of the druid PC went to ask their master and the emerald enclave for help.
I also introduced halfway inn and the spy from the cult in phandalin ahead of time in preparation for the expansions. I also considered making it so that the attack on logger camp was a test run to see how feasible it would be for the orcs to cause Ankhegs to attack phandalin or its mines, but that was scrapped because the party didn't take that quest.
im currently running doip, and my idea is to have a group of orcs sneak into the village at about level 3 and vandalize the shrine in the village, along with leaving a challenge for the players "Adventurers, bring us the food your puny little village has stored for the cold months. IF YOU FAIL, YOU WON'T HAVE A VILLAGE LEFT TO LIVE IN. deliver it to the edge of neverwinter by The second of september. (1d6 days from now) OR ELSE..." the orcs plan to use this as a sacrifice to talos, and will bring phandalin a terrible storm that will create multiple small fires in the village via lighting. if the group tries to trick the orcs, they find the orcs planned to ambush them at the edge of the forest anyways. if they straught up don't do it, the orcs attack phandalin, perhaps 1d4 twig blights and an anchorite. hope you like the idea!
i Play Ursula, Ariadne, Bolehs, Uhluhtc and Lizagnazeialqi in the tavern at the end of the world.
spiders are absolutely wonderful works of nature and if you say otherwise i shall feast tonight.
