So I was wanting to utilize the UA Mass Combat rules for a maritime encounter, but in order to assign a BR to a unit of ships, I need a CR for that ship. I considered using the number of crew members, but when your talking 40 head of CR 3 individuals and then some, it gets a little ridiculous. Any suggestions? Maybe I should just consider the damage output and reference the "Creating Quick Monster Stats" table in the DMG. What do you all think?
You are effectively creating a monster. I would absolutely take a spin through the DMG to give you somewhere to start.
