The characters are in the 4th round of battle when a new monster enters the battle. It's technically that monsters first round, and it has first round advantage on attacks.
Does he get the advantage because it's his first round, or do I defer to the characters being in their forth round?
Slayer. In the first round of a combat, the orc has advantage on attack rolls against any creature that hasn’t taken a turn yet.

It doesn't matter in this case, because all the PCs have taken a turn by the time it enters the combat.
I agree with FarlingSlayer takes effect in the first round of combat, not your first round so if you join a fight during the 4th round, it's of no use since everyone has taken a turn already.

i can see why Obsession4 is asking since none of the players has taken a turn during a round in which the orc was present. the spirit of the ability appears to be in representing a bloodlust reminiscent of barbarian reckless attack drawing them into the battle. which would seem to base the activation on the slayer-ing instigator, not the to-be-slayed defendant. i still think the answer mechanically is no, but that doesn't feel right for the orc's design.
...either way, imagine sneaking into an orc camp and letting a call for help get out. suddenly every round is a slayer round for somebody as new orcs join in two's and three's, over and over. i can't decide if that sounds really deadly, really tedious, or both.

It is the fourth round of the combat.
If they aren't around to take advantage of combat, the round after initiative is rolled, then they don't get to benefit from that Slayer ability.

((this assumes it's the Orcs, not the Orcs, Orcs, Orcs, or Orcs.))
((((edit: ps, wow i want a pile of upvotes for finally getting that red fang link to work. wow what a chore!))))
unhappy at the way in which we lost individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
tell them you don't like features disappeared quietly in the night: provide feedback!
It could have been worded as "In your first round of a combat", if it could apply to you joining a combat later than the first round.
