Just getting some opinions on this write-up. Just to be clear - this is NOT an advertisement. I just want to know how clichéd this sounds.
Thanks.
Xilfina. The continent that even the gods forgot.
For decades, the mighty armies of the Dracanae Empire marched across the vast island, conquering or razing everyone and everything in their path. Led by their massive dragons, who ruled the Empire with an iron fist, every opposing power on the continent was ultimately toppled and virtually every people ultimately either bent the knee… or were reduced to ashes. Time and time again, parties of noble heroes – champions of their peoples – gathered to challenge Dracanae’s awesome power… only to be completely crushed.
At its pinnacle, the Empire planned for The Great Sacrifice – gathering their vast hoards of treasure, slaves and magic to their capital city. Led by their mage-priests, the great chromatic dragons of Dracanae prepared to summon Tiamat herself into the Material Plane, to serve as their Empress as well their Goddess.
And in the moment of their greatest triumphant, the great city of Dracanae completely vanished. Along with every dragon of the Empire.
In the days that followed, the Dracanae Empire collapsed completely into anarchy, the remaining soldiers and servants now unable to repress the rebellions that sprung up all over the continent.
In the Empire’s remote Myrin Prefecture, Exarch Baethon Halcyon, a human who had served as a governor in Dracanae’s political machine, quickly formed alliances with the High Elves and the Dwarves of the lands he had governed. Renouncing the Empire he had served, Halcyon declared the formation of the Myrin Republic, a nation ruled not through the force of arms but through constitutional laws, where the fundamental rights of all sentient beings were protected. Establishing an elected Senate who would answer to the people and a government that would answer to the Senate, Halcyon and his fledgling Republic became an oasis of order and stability as the fires of anarchy raged across Xilfina.
Two hundred years later…
Outside of Myrin, Xilfina continues to bleed. Most of the continent exists in a perpetual state of war and conflict, as people choke in oppression and slavery under the weight of petty warlords and tyrants. Over time and without fail, a kingdom or an empire or a city-state will ascend by the sword, dominating its neighbors and seeking to rival the grandeur of the old Dracanae Empire… only for it to be toppled and plunged back into anarchy.
The Myrin Republic, still maintaining its original borders, stands tall as the most powerful and enduring state of the continent. All attempts by enemies from without to prey upon its people were repelled by their proud citizens of the Republic, still led to this day by the descendants of Baethon Halcyon. By all appearances, the people of the Republic enjoy unprecedented freedoms and the highest standard of living across the continent.
But as is often the case, all is not as it seems.
And in the two hundred years since Dracanae’s Fall, not a single dragon has been seen throughout Xilfina.
I would read through the original Dragonlance books. This reminds me of the classic trilogy and especially of restored Solamnia or pre-War of the Lance Solamnia. It’s good and I’m certain you could find some more great inspiration in those books. Number one is “Dragons of Autumn Twilight.”

The Xilfina Chronicles
How far would you go to save the world?
This is the most cool starter writing I've seen here. Keep up the good work!
