I've agreed to DM an adventure for my current group so the usual DM can have a chance to play a PC. So my idea for a side quest is a Fey - themes prison break/riot.
I need ideas for the "Fey Bastion of Incarceration"'s most wanted list. Guys who have broken out of their cells and are taking over the prison. I'm looking for a good mix of absurd and menacing individuals for the party to round up.
This is all a diversion so a green hag can break out her coven sisters from the maximum security section. They'll be the final boss.
Fairy tale villains could be interesting. A big bad wolf,(wolfen statblock in dnd unleashed inpermissicon compendium) or evil witches. Some fomorians could be held there, or just people related to fey crime syndicates in the fey dark. The sky is the limit really.
An ogre who can turn into a tree. He used his guise as a tree to ambush travelers and devour them.
A pixie who robbed a field of flowers of their color.
A sprite who murdered a daisy.
A witch who murdered fairies for their dust.
A donkey headed oaf who is in jail for trying to court the fairy queen.
A satyr who trafficked in the illegal market of true names.
A centaur who was wrongly imprisoned for hunting unicorns.
An Eladrin vampire.
A satyr imprisoned for committing the heinous crime of dancing with the dead. He desecrated a graveyard by animating the corpses in order to have people to revel with. He'd do it again.
A will'o'the wisp who guided a lost child home.
A treant who committed treason. They let orcs pillage the forest of a treant who they had a grudge upon.
An elf who honestly has no idea why he is in jail. He traveled to the feywild because it was once the land of his people and he thought it would be a wonderful place. Unfortunately he didn't know about the twisted reasoning of fey rules and bargains and somehow wound up in prison because of it. He honestly had no idea why.
A smiling, purple tabaxi who sells feyweed, and illegal narcotic.
(If you're willing to homebrew) A nuckelavee who crossed a stream.
A wren in a birdcage. She betrayed her people by warning the army they were about to ambush of the attack.
My all-time favorite for prisoners is a halfling rouge. I mean, it's a prison. There should be a rouge somewhere. There is a premade character sheet for one on the home screen of DnDbeyond.com in case you want to study the stats.

Dine-and-dash/purse snatcher Quickling. Add a trait that lets him steal items from the players.
Pixie kidnapper (their spells are very good for that)
Bank robber Korred (especialized in breaching vaults)
A gang of Redcaps or a single one that is an expy for a villain of a Slasher movie.
A satyr scammer (that presents himself as a helpful NPC that only wants to complete their sentence to get out).
A group of Meenlocks that are not actually criminals but were spawned due to the terror of the prison.
A Dryad whose groove was used to grow narcotic plants and now has drug related powers.
A Boggle sidekick for any of the previous villains that was born when they were on solitary confinement once.
An elder darkling hitman. Uses Darkness and Blindsight to **** people up.
An ogre who can turn into a tree. He used his guise as a tree to ambush travelers and devour them.
