I'm looking for recommendations for the order of play of AD&D first edition (and second?) modules. The group I'm helping are first-time players and a first-time DM. Do you have any suggestions? Yes, I know there is no "official" order of play. I'm just interesting in hearing ideas. FYI, they are currently in the middle of Treasure Hunt. I have a number of 1st edition (and 2nd) modules, and I'm looking for ideas on which module to recommend for them next. Thank you.
Usually those modules have an expected level range for an average party size listed (back then it may have been a "total level" number that was then divisible by the number of players to get a range). I would suggest mapping out those ranges to get a feel for level progression between modules. If some of the modules have similar ranges, work out which one should come first based on the narrative the DM wants to tell.
It's been literally decades since I dusted off my old 2E modules to check for level range requirements, so I couldn't tell you off the top of my head, which ones were made for what level ranges.
