Hi everyone! I'm working up the will to finalize my signature, so... I guess this will be the signature for now
My favorite resource for coming up with names is fantasynamegenerators.com. It has (non-AI, if you care) generators for all kinds of locations, empires, characters, and more. It even has generators specifically tailored for D&D races, hobgoblins included, and for real-world cultures in case you'd like to take inspiration from world history.
In the words of the great philosopher, Unicorse, "Aaaannnnd why should I care??"
Best quote from a book ever: "If you love with your eyes, death is forever. If you love with your heart, there is no such thing as parting."- Jonah Cook, Ascendant, Songs of Chaos by Michael R. Miller. Highly recommend
What is the culture of your specific Hob Goblins? That might narrow things down. Are they more Roman in inspiration or more The Golden Horde?
They may have named themselves after their Leader. Rome is Called Rome and not Reem after all. Different Dynasties in China are named after the ruling families.
You can name it after the region they came from, especially if its from ages past. If the empire doesn't exist anymore what would modern day scholars call it. The Byzantine empire wasn't called that by people at the time it existed for instance.
They may have called themselves The Grug'nir Empire, which means High Mountains in their language. But now they're remembered as the "Great fractured Hegemony" because there's evidence of internal power struggles and regional autonomy that suggest it wasn't ran by just one Hobgoblin.
Unless it’s a bluff and that’s not actually his true name. He just picked random names and stuffed them between his fore- and surname, and leads people to believe that they’re part of his true namehttps://speedtest.vet/https://vidmate.bid/ .

Keep it short and simple, so the players might laugh when hearing it, and it keeps the semantic satiation away.
For example: Gortny, Freknop, etc
