SO, I'm thinking of a plant wizard NPC. Mycinoid or Vegypygmie, probably, and I need some help:
1. A good name. Something plant-ish. Would like it to be a little humourous, such as a metaphor that is totally misunderstood, or just something stupid for it to deadpan
2. Spell ideas. Entangle and stuff like that is definitelly gonna be on the list, but I also need some more creative, but not outlandish, suggestions. Things like fireball are off the table.
3. Roleplaying tips. I am not quite sure how to roleplay a plant. Is it quiet? Eeriely smart?
I know that I misspelled half of that. Bear with me.

DM: He doesn't have much besides the skin on his bones.
Me: I'll take the skin on his bones, then.
Also, this is for Redwall nerds: Eeeeeuuuuulllllllaaaaaaaalllllllliiiiiiiiiaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!
Barkskin, Entangle, Ensnaring Strike, Spike Growth, Plant Growth, Grasping Vine, Thorn Whip, Guardian of Nature, Nature's Wrath - but they are all Druid spells not Wizard spells.
For spells, how does the plant move? the plant can have some sort of teleportation to allow them to move from place to place. Also some sort of change self/polymorph?
To Roleplay, have it as British upper crust, "gentleman" like. The plant is a carnivorous so have it as a nice/polite entity, to lure prey into it's trap.
If you can find a copy of the 4e phb2 there was a race called Wilden. It is a humanoid plant species. You might be able to homebrew something off of that
Thanks, the roleplaying tips are good. I don't want fire in general because he's a plant, and even if it is fireball fungus it still just doesn't feel right for what I have in mind. He doesn't like fire. Period. For wizard and not druid, I think that maybe wizard isn't really correct. The idea is that he got a magic crystal type thing in his head and now he has intelligence and power. So maybe sorcerer, but really just arcane magic in general. @Agilemind, the spells are good, thanks.

Why a wizard instead of a circle of spores druid?
Why is fireball out? Flavor it as throwing fireball fungus at people!

Your plant based spells are:
Barkskin, Entangle, Ensnaring Strike, Spike Growth, Plant Growth, Grasping Vine, Thorn Whip, Guardian of Nature, Nature's Wrath - but they are all Druid spells not Wizard spells.
Name: Nepenthes rajah named in honour of James Brooke, the first White Rajah of Sarawak.
Give them the "random" name of James Brooke. He would be the "King of Nepenthes".
It is not a small plant, The stem is up to 30 mm (1.2 in)) thick and may reach up to 6 m (20 ft) in length, although it rarely exceeds 3 m (9.8 ft).
Look it up on Wikipedia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nepenthes_rajah

The spell Wither and Bloom from the Strixhaven book is a good 2nd level AoE for an ncp to have that is plant themed.

"Look into my eyes, you will make him a magic mushroom based wizard with the personality of Snoop Dogg"
