Is there a way for me (as a DM) to join my own campaign and use the map (on a tv in the middle of table for my players) as a 'player' so that my players can only see what i want them to see instead of all the things i get to see as a DM when i have my maps open? Without having to make a new alt account on DNDB or have another player log in on DNDB on my laptop
There's a "Spectator View" button among the buttons on the bottom right of the Maps screen. It opens a new tab with a player-style view of the map for you.
It's right next to the "Full Screen" button. The icon looks like a computer monitor.
So, as the DM, you already have plenty to do. I have one of my players run the Player version of the map on the TV. There's just no reason for the DM to manage the Player view.
