Ran a session last night where the party went up against 6 zombies. Turn 1 the Cleric Turned Undead, which greatly reduced the difficulty of the fight, one would think. I managed to roll above the Undead Fortitude DC 12 times in that encounter.
I had never used that properly before and it made for a hilarious encounter. What other mechanics do DMs typically get wrong?
thats hilarious :D but i also love the fact that this shows that low-level undead can be terrifying if the dice gods are against you (or with you, depending on what side of the DM screem you sit :D)
Thats funny, I can't imagine the looks on the players faces after the twelve time that they hit the zombie and it falls over- then stands right back up.

DM: He doesn't have much besides the skin on his bones. Me: I'll take the skin on his bones, then.
Down, down, down the road, down the Witches Road
"You see a gigantic, monstrous praying mantis burst from out of the ground. It sprays a stream of acid from it's mouth at one soldier, dissolving him instantly, then it turns and chomps another soldier in half with it's- "
"When are we gonna take a snack break?"
