So with the addition of Party Inventory, I've been enjoying the way I can now control the loot better for my party, and I mentioned this in a chat, and the concept had people astonished that they've never thought of it. So I figured I'd post here in case there's people who haven't heard it.
Create a character in the campaign that you own, whose visibility is set to Private (this is super important). I have a Pachus Muelis for each of my campaigns set up like this.
Open the Manage Coin panel, and under Settings, select "Put Coins in Containers"
In the character inventory, add a pouch, and rename it to the encounter or boss that you want gear for.
Add the loot you want to hand out for that encounter, and the gold for that encounter.
When the players defeat the encounter, transfer the pouch to the Party Inventory. You will need to manually move the gold from the pouch to the Inventory total yourself, if they players don't have the same "Put Coins in Containers" option turned on.
The goal here is for players to not go digging in the Magic Items lists for what you've told them they've gained. If you want to hide what they've got until they attune/divine the details, you can put custom items in the pouch and just move the items to the inventory when they work out what it is. I add a note on the item so I can match it up to whatever they're given.
To me it seemed straightforward and simple, helps me track what loot I want to give out immensely, and cuts down on players trying to find an item in the list (looking at your comma, Longsword, +1), but apparently it hadn't occurred to others.
