I'm in the process to add to the spell list that I give to my players all the new spells included in the new 5e 2024 books (Forgotten Realms and Arcana Unleashed). My question is: would you recommend me to add also all the 2014 spells or would it be better to not do so?
I agree with Wagnarokkr, in general you don't want to mix spells from different editions.
For your spell list, if you did add them, there would be a LOT of duplicate entries and cause a lot of confusion.
I'm curious why you are creating a custom spell list for the players to pick from.
If your players are creating their characters by hand, with paper and pencil, then a list would be somewhat helpful, but if they are creating characters through D&D Beyond, then as the DM you can set the source material they have access to for picking spells, and you would not have to do the work of creating the list.
Additionally, if you are using D&D Beyond, and just happen to have both 5e & 5.5e selected for options to pick from, the players will see the "Legacy" note on all 5.5e updated spells that have a duplicate.
Hope that helps :)
Cheers!

Breathe, dragons; sing of the First World, forged out of chaos and painted with beauty. Sing of Bahamut, the Platinum, molding the shape of the mountains and rivers; Sing too of Chromatic Tiamat, painting all over the infinite canvas. Partnered, they woke in the darkness; partnered, they labored in acts of creation.
It's probably not a good idea in general to mix spells from the two editions.
To the list of spells I'm creating for my players.
Like Laird_Denton, I am curious why you are doing that at all, but I definitely would not mix spells from two editions in such a context. That will just cause confusion.

Yeah. Except for the spells that haven't been updated, which are just fine to use, there's no good reason to have 2014 and 2024 spells in play.
If there's a particular old spell that got significantly changed that you want to keep in play, such as the old mass summons, give it a new name and add it to the list, but don't do it wholesale, or even by default.

Thanks in advance.

I'm talking about using spells that haven't been updated to 5.5 yet.
