I love being the forever DM, but for a while now I've been frustrated by how much prep it takes to put together a proper table session, just on the mechanics and admin side. Character creation, editing character sheets (so they only show the details that matter, especially for beginners), drawing terrain, balancing fights, and so on. For me these always take hours, and they're not exactly the most creative part of the hobby. There are online tools that help with some of this, but none of them really worked for me. Something I consider essential was always missing.
So a while ago I started building my own digital helpers. Now I'd like to share them with you at https://longtabletools.com/.
Character sheets designed for speed and ease of use. No math needed, everything fits on one or two pages. You can also import your character from D&D Beyond (public characters only).
A D&D combat simulator that covers the full SRD rule set and simulates fights on actual maps. You can import your Beyond characters here too (public only). The first import takes a little while, but re-importing is quick.
A map library and printing tool that lets you print any map to scale on A4 sheets, for your minis or tokens.
And this is just the start. I'm developing the site continuously, and lots of new features are coming.
So far I've been the only one using the app, so there will definitely be some teething problems. I really appreciate feedback and ideas. There's a small button for that in the top right corner, so please use it.
I hope some of you find it useful. Have fun playing! 🎲
