I am trying to write up a one-shot campaign for some of my friends that is basically "A bunch of rock stars get thrown into a fantasy world." What I am going for in designing the world and the interactions within it is this sort of rock fantasy, in which everything is sort of wild and ridiculous and high energy (most of the time). Now while I've listened to my fair share of classic and modern rock, I am no expert on the genre (or music in general for that matter).
In order to try and get the right mentality as well as some inspiration to draw from, I was wondering if anyone in the community had any particular music videos, artists, songs, or albums that they recommend and think exemplify the idea of a rock fantasy. Most of what I listen to or watch will either be used to influence the world lore, characters, and quests or at the very least as background music to keep my head in the right place while I design these things completely independently of the music.
Many thanks

I had an idea previously for a campaign like this, where every character is a Bard or Bard muticlass.
You could consider having rival bands of fantasy bards, and give them names that are play on IRL band names. Something like Panic! At the Inn, or Fall out Bard.
There's the hot-headed barbarian named Yngwie Malmstone who wields his axe with precision and flair.
Don't forget the ranger named Les who hails the pools of clay. He is famous for his skill with heavy stringed weapons.
From the city of Peart in the great white north, we have Neil the wizard with his pair of magic wands.
And last but not least, the great bard Farrokh Bulsara, whose cutting words like quicksilver have been known to leave thousands of people at once completely stunned.
Individually, they are masters of their craft. But assembled together, they would be the stuff of legends.
There was a video game a while back called Brutal Legend, the main character was voiced by Jack Black, and it had a similar idea in that a Legendary Roadie gave his life for the job and awoke in a fantasy realm of metal mania.
I’m really into incorporating music into my D&D sessions. And I think classical music is super boring. So I homebrewed an item called the Interdimensional Musicbox that is able to produce music from other planes of existence and across the Fourth Wall (it’s unpublished, if anybody cares to use it, lemme know and I’ll post it). It’s just not D&D without Skrillex now.

How did I not know about this before? Oh my god

Type "Sonata Arctica" or "Nightwish" into Pandora or any other genre radio platform and enjoy the ride.

I am absolutely here for this.

Have you ever seen the original Heavy Metal? It's an adult cartoon with oodles of fantasy elements and an awesome rock soundtrack.
How about a bunch of D&D characters who end up at a rock concert?

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure
Scott Pilgrim vs The World
Both movies incorporate music, fantasy, and action.

I know, it's life changing. I suggest taking it in in massive doses and riding the waves of euphoria :)
