Hi, I'm a a new dm as in I've never been a dm and I want to start doing it myself what is a good campaign to start with. I have a group of committed people who are new to dnd but want to learn to play. I've played before but I have only been playing for about a year. What are your suggestions for 5e dnd?
Agree with post above, adding my voice to make sure you understand just how good of a starter campaign it is. Maybe watch a little bit of Youtube campaigns to get an idea of DMing. I suggest also watching a little bit from Zee Bashew. Not all of his things are DM related, but you can get good ideas from him for when you make your own campaign.
I third the suggestion of Lost Mines of Phandelver, its great for teaching the DM and the PCs! And its available at a great price that doest require you to purchase the DM Guide, Players Handbook, or Monster Manual.
Agreed. When I returned to the game after so long, a friend of mine ran LMoP to help our group of old-timers orient to 5e. It's a good adventure and pretty straightforward. Ideal for a new DM. Good luck and have fun.

Lost mine of phandelver. It comes with the starter set and is the go to "my first campaign" for players and DMs alike.

Agreed with everyone. Phandelver was a blast. I'm DMing Waterdeep: Dragon Heist now and it's really hit or miss. Today was a huge miss.
No one will tell you LMoP isn't the best starting campaign (I think. If you think differently, then sorry.).

Recently returned to D&D after 20+ years.
Unapologetic.
As a relatively new DM to 5th, I will confirm LMoP is excellent for new DM's as well as new players!
