My adventurers need to find a wizard who resides in a demi-plane that takes the form of an ethereal circus tent. I'm not sure yet if this wizard is the owner of this demi plane, a prisoner there, a guest, or something else. But the wizard has information as to how the adventurers can find the final dungeon of the campaign which is another demi plane.
I'm calling the demi plane "The Pale Circus". I'm trying to think of why it exists and what else the adventurers may encounter there. So far I think that it's a crossroads of planar travel. In this campaign the planes do not have much contact with one another or the contact between planes is very primitive and planar magic has been lost or forgotten. But this demi plane can be accessed from several other planes and so has become a travel hub for inter planar travelers. I want to keep it simple, so here are some of my initial ideas for other things they may encounter there:
1. A small bazaar which hosts merchants from other planes who sell uncommon magical items.
2. A large circus tent which hosts entertainment like gladiator matches between strange beasts for the viewing pleasure of depraved inter planar travelers.
At some point they need to find Cargast, the wizard. What other interesting things might my adventurers encounter there?
I'm using this attached map from Elven Tower as a basic inspiration for what the space of the plane looks like.
