A few months ago my niece asked me to DM a 2-3 hour one-shot D&D game for her and her friends, for her 14th birthday party. We had the party this last weekend, and it went great, a good deal thanks to the suggestions from the community here! Players included my niece (she has played 3 session of Phandelver) and 3 of her friends who had never played before, and we played through a modified version of A Most Potent Brew*. We played for about 3h30m and everyone had a blast; they brought their character sheets home with them and plan to play again sometime soon (we are hours away, so I am encouraging my niece to be the DM and bring them through Phandelver).
So, just a shout out to the community here, great job and thanks for all of the help!
*List of changes (spoilers)
-Made Glowkindle a Dwarf and a genius brewer, but pretty distracted and oblivious otherwise (I've known too many microbrewery guys...)
-Added some NPC's to the brewery for RP and flavor.
-Changed Beer to Rootbeer... because it was a 14 year old's birthday party.
-Added some additional creatures and scaled difficulty.
-Added a mirror ward to the end of the main hallway near the mosaic floor trap. This was a great part of the game and I was pretty proud of it.

If I could figure out how to post pictures of the party set-up, I would; it was pretty cool.
