Hey everyone! I've been wanting to DM for a while now, and am currently in the mining-for-ideas stage.
If you're one of my players/friends, I would prefer if you didn't read this. It's no fun if you're spoiled for what might be ahead. :)
. . . . . . Good, now that the peasantry have gone, here's the plan. In my campaign I want to include a trio (?) of ancient magical artefacts of great power. These three don't necessarily have to be connected by a theme, but each one will contain some sort of fatal flaw that earned it an eternity being locked away in some pocket dimension somewhere.
One of these artefacts is a sceptre that appears to transform the user into a dragon, but in reality its more like a summoning/possession. The user's mind reaches into the astral plane and becomes attached to the soul of a dragon, and this soul gradually overtakes them as they continue to use the dragon's body. The soul you attract is dependent on the kind of person holding you are, and the thing is addictive, too.
This idea I plucked directly from the book Guards! Guards!
Anyway, here I turn to you. Have you ever encountered any magical artefacts that might fit in with one? Do you know of any official ones that I could just slap a defect onto for use alongside this?

Here's my idea: Dragon's Eye Tiara = Mind Dragon's Teeth Necklace = Body Sceptre = Soul
DRAGON'S EYE TIARA A golden Tiara with a [COLOR OF YOUR DRAGON] gem into it. When equipped, the character can understand the language of dragons. (secretly that will link the mind of the PC with the Astral dragon 3:] )
DRAGON'S TEETH NECKLACE A simples necklace made of twine with a Dragon Tooth. When equipped, the character earns a natural scale armor like a Dragonborn. (secretly that will link the body of the PC with the Astral dragon 3:] )
You can use these effects to encourage the PCs to keep them or use them.
All items are magically attracted. When they are together, they bring the Astral Dragon into its material form. That's my evil plan xD
