I tend to use some AL adventures, especially at the lower levels, as short arcs in my games. I tend to run my campaigns in Faerun (just easier than coming up with my own maps, histories, cities, etc.) For instance, my current group has its own set of character arcs, but as they make their way around the Moonsea region, it's just easy to have a one or two session arc on Mishaps in Mulmaster or Troubles in Phlan. It has allowed the group to interact with the world around them as they move through it. If they opt not to follow one of the hooks laid out as they pass through the cities, it's fine. I have other things they can do. But if they do -- and have fun doing it, then it helps round out the world.
As for adventures, what levels are you looking?

Corrin Kettlewhistle: Halfling Life Cleric (Curse of Strahd) Kip Dalton: Human Lore Bard (Waterdeep Dragon Heist) Debauchery Dalliance: Half-Drow Oath of Conquest Paladin (White Plume Mountain)
I see and understand. I've used a few, but often grab the ones associated with conventions. They seem shorter and more suitable to quick side quests. I've used Dues for the Dead, Harried in Hillsfar, Vault of the Devourer, Nothing Happens in Elmwood, just to name a few off the top of my head.

do they work? Can’t really expand the question more
if so, are there any particularly good ones?
I did NOT eat those hikers.
