I have been watching this guy, MrRhexx, he makes these dragon videos. He states that you can't find this lore in the Monster Manuel. He isn't wrong but he doesn't state where to find the lore. I looked at the Draconomicon but the chapters on each individual dragon is pretty small, and most of it differs from what he said in his videos. Can anyone point me to some other source of dragon lore, or at least tell me if I'm missing a spot in the Draconomicon?
A lot of the information from his videos are sourced from older editions. The first and second editions tended to have a lot more esoteric lore added for flavor along with the stat blocks. Also, there are literally hundreds of novels set in various D&D settings that flesh out the history and lore of various dragons and other monsters. Some of that information has been compiled on the various wikis like this: https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Steel_dragon.

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
-should also be noted there are multiple DRaconomicons. Not sure which one you’ve looked at but I own the third edition one and it is a tome of knowledge
Yeah, just MM, Draconomicons, and other monster supplement books for multiple editions. May have pulled extra lore from video games, novels, and movies(?) set in official d&d settings.
