Hey guys, first sorry for my bad english, it is not my native language^^
I played d&d for a few years now as a player and want to run a homebrew campaign for my DM and friends. I imagine the campaign to be about a villain (or maybe more than one, do not know this yet) which wants to free the 3 eldrazi titans Emrakul, Kozilek and Ulamog to absorb their powers by sealing them inside himself. Therefore he will need the eye of ugin which was - in my campaign - shattered by the three planeswalkers Ugin, Sorin and Nahiri into three pieces after they sealed the eldrazi and hid them on another plane - the plane where the adventure will start.
The players will start on a mission to protect archaeologists during their excavation. After a few encounters they discover a secret pathway which lead them to a room with an old wall. The ornaments on this wall illustrate how 3 heros defeated 3 monstrous creatures while they are holding a shining stone (the eye of ugin).
While they advance further in the campaign they discover more hints and will fight the Rimari cult. This cult are people from ravnica which came to our plane to search for ugins fragments (i think it would be cool if two ravnica guilds are getting involved in this setting / Rimari = Golgari+Dimir). I think of the origin of the Rimari would be one member of each of those two guilds which are controlled by Emrakul (because of her mind manipulating ability) and finally these two gathered other companions with the same mindset and seperated from their guilds to travel to the other plane.
After gathering all three fragments the eye is going to restore itself but luckily it is not activated because the eye can only be activated by three planeswalker (what they do not know). The evil Rimari cult will try to steal it from them and hopefully my players can fend them off.
I then will let them find the amulett of planes which i know they will use which will turn them into some sort of planeswalker and the eldrazi are freed. The villain (or villains) will find my players, try to retrieve the eye and either they can defeat the rimari or they will be defeated by them.
I know this is kind of chaotic but this is only a vague idea of how i could run this campaign. I would love to hear your thoughts about this. Is this an interesting setting, should i create one villain or more villains that got together for the same reason, how would you handle the planeswalking? I tried to put some of the MTG lore into this stuff too^^
Thanks for reading all this stuff :)
